SECOND TEAM TO PALU, CENTRAL SULAWESI (November 2018)

In the middle of this month we had 2 volunteers return to Palu, Central Sulawesi. We traveled with Mr. Harry from Anak Terang Foundation in Tangerang and worked in cooperation with Mrs. Shanty from The Salvation Army in Palu. This area was hit by a 7.5 magnitude earthquake which also resulted in a tsunami on September 28th this year. This is our second team to help in this disaster. We concentrated on an area 4 hours outside Palu called Kulawi because it has been cut off from aid due to landslides caused by the earthquake and heavy rains. Our team was able to get through the mountains with a full truck of 4 tons of food staples, building supplies, school supplies and clothing.

Thanks to sponsors in Jakarta we also brought cleaning supplies to Jono and Padena villages, as well as dolls and toys for the children. We had also planned to go to Lindu village but were not able to get through due to landslides and the road being cut off so we left the dolls and toys with Mrs. Shanty to distribute. At first we were thinking that dolls and toys were not exactly top priority in this situation but when we saw how happy the children reacted to receiving these gifts, we realized that this was something very special for these children. Our dear friend and sponsor is very sentimental and has a heart for the children.

We also donated building supplies for 3 different construction projects. One was for a roof on a temporary church in the village of Wisolo, the other 2 are still being worked on and are located in Kulawi and the other in the city of Donggala.
